I received my Masters in Secondary Education with a Focus on Stem from Grand Canyon University. I took classes that were focused on lesson planning, social and emotional learning, technology, differentiated learning, diversity and inclusion in the classroom. While pursing my education I worked as a science teacher at Perspectives Leadership Academy. This experience taught me how to develop more efficient classroom management techniques, successfully handle and build relationships with large classroom sizes, work with students with various learning and skill levels and use technology and differentiated learning to accommodate the various modalities of learning. I've always had a connection with the youth and a passion to empower them with knowledge. I worked in a laboratory for 13 years and was inspired to to change careers by watching my teacher/mentor. She invited me to join Global Brigades and do service learning in Panama and Ghana. My service work included legal empowerment in Panama to aid indigenous communities, building bio-digester systems in Ghana and teaching schools and local communities about sanitation. After these life changing experiences, I was driven to go back to my community and teach our youth. In addition, I have stayed up-to-date with the latest educational software such as PowerSchool, Google Apps, NearPod, Schoology and a host of gamified learning and simulations. I have a passion for knowledge and continuing my educational achievements beyond the school walls. I am a participant of the American Association of Chemistry Teachers and AACT Science Coaches . I have recently attended the 4 day Atlantic Basin Chemistry Conference in Morocco through the American Chemical Society. This experience allowed me to dive into global research sharing and networking with leading chemists in the nation where I was able to share ideas and collaborate on current multi-disciplinary chemistry topics.
