Special Education Instructional Facilitator
CurrentSupports, mentors, & models best practice instructional strategies & techniques. Committed to improving students academic & social successes for students with disabilities. Attends division & area facilitator meetings. Effectively communicates division procedures & best practices to site administration & staff through regular staff meetings. Facilitates staff development activities related to students with disabilities for administration, licensed, & support staff. Informs site administration of special education concerns that may be supervisory in nature. Assists administration, licensed, & support staff with the effective implementation of federal, state, & local mandates. Ensures that students with disabilities are receiving a free & appropriate education in the least restrictive environment. Assists parents/guardians in problem solving & acquiring the necessary knowledge & skills to support the development & implementation of their child’s IEP. Provides staff with information on scientifically based instruction, positive behavioral supports & other effective classroom management techniques. Assists licensed staff in providing technical information, preparing IEPs, &/or referrals for additional/alternative academic & positive behavioral supports. Monitors, on a regularly scheduled basis, confidential folders & IEPs to ensure accuracy, completeness, & compliance. Maintains confidential records through observable procedures consistent with state directives. Collaborates with licensed staff & administration when designing class schedules as it relates to students with disabilities. Assists IEP teams in the development & implementation of transition plans. Effectively uses & trains staff on the electronic IEP system. Collaborates effectively with administration, staff, parents/guardians, & the community. Integrates the use of technology into the instructional program. Participates in other job-related duties & activities related to the position, as assigned.
