The research activity involved developing antibacterial coatings for biomedical implants. For urinary catheters it is important that the coatings have a low friction to make application less painful. So the coating had some antibacterial moieties and additional compounds, such as polyethyleneglycol or polyoxazolines (introduced to considerably increase the lubricity).As a research associate I had various responsibilities. - preparing the coating constituencies and applying them on biomedical substrates - modifying this antibacterial coatings with hydrophilic polymers and studying the process for increasing the hydrophilicity of our coatings- characterizing the biomaterials using different methods such as X-Ray Diffraction, Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, Scanning Electron Microscopy
