As I enjoy jobs that enable me to connect with the world globally, I soon found myself choosing Maritime Studies with Business. This course enables me to learn of the world's most heavily used mode of transportation. It is fascinating and intriguing to see how transport system and the world just exist so harmoniously in one global chain.

During my 3 months stint, I was attached to the Project, Oil Gas and Marine Logistics Department of Kuehne+Nagel, Singapore. Daily, I liaised with trucking vendors to coordinate cross-border trucking of chemical pallets. On the job, I learnt the importance and significance of effective communication, especially when engaging with the many stakeholders from trucking personnel to the customers. Besides, unexpected circumstances in the process of trucking goods from one location to another trained me to think critically and unconventionally. I was honoured, during this internship, to have had the opportunity to sit into meetings with prospective customers. Having been able to witness how logistics solutions are specifically tailored for each customer, it developed within me a greater respect and awe for the logistics profession. While movement and transportation remains the crux of the logistics industry, more critically, in a competitive era, the role of the logistics industry has shifted to one that delivers vital supply chain solutions that customers may retain their competitive edge. Developing a better understanding of the significance of logistics in driving supply chain was one of the greatest take-home gleaned during the short internship experience.
