In this role, she leads the design, implementation and measurement of both internal and external sustainability impact programs that address overall sustainability, environmental justice, government and regulatory affairs, and corporate affairs and community engagement strategy.Tequila has over twenty-five years of experience working in roles with progressive scope and responsibility at Southern Company, Alabama Power and Georgia Power. Her background includes hands-on senior leadership involvement in helping industrial companies engage on issues of sustainability at both corporate and community levels. Most recently, she served as vice president ofSustainability for Georgia Power, the largest subsidiary of Southern Company, one of the nation's largest generators of electricity. There, she led the implementation of Southern Company'sEnvironmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy. Prior to this role, Tequila was vice president of Charitable Giving as well as president of the Alabama Power Foundation and director of EnergyServices for Alabama Power Company. She was also the general manager for Renewable Energy Operations at Southern Power.Tequila is a member of the Board of Directors for Sunbelt Solomon and an advisory board member of Stonehenge Capital Community Development. She earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering and MBA from the University of Alabama-Birmingham and an MA in Communication Studies from the University of Alabama.
