Astia is an Angel investing organization founded in Silicon Valley in 1999 as a non-profit organization dedicated to identifying and promoting best-in-class women high-growth entrepreneurs. As an MD at Astia, I was a member of the team that makes final decisions on whether to invest. I am also responsible for technical and business model due diligence. Post-transaction, I helped portfolio companies with fundraising as well as their technology and business strategy. I was the founding manager of the Astia Edge program a dedicated program for Black & LatinX led companies.

While the technology industry is known for buzz words and hype cycles, businesses and executives must continuously translate these into revenues and profit. LCA consults in the big data, analytics and artificial intelligence space with a particular orientation toward competitive strategies, business model generation, and translating technology objectives to revenue. I was hired by a group of lenders to investigate the viability of a mid-market SaaS Fintech company. Under extremely tight deadlines, I was able to form a team of senior SaaS executives to review and if necessary, assume control of the company. The team and I were able to make a recommendation quickly to investors. We successfully helped the lenders recoup their loan.

Provided strategic and technical advice to executives at venture-funded WePow as they pursued alternative growth and exit strategies:- Supported the CEO and CTO with strategic advice until their successful January 2019 acquisition by leading ATS vendor OutMatch.- Trained the team to use a proprietary set of Agile techniques I developed that led to dramatically improved productivity, quality, and communication across all company functions. - Worked with their CTO suggesting and helping implement both operational, process and architectural changes to cut operating expenses, improve efficiencies and to help him identify the best ways to monetize WePow’s extensive data assets with deep learning; and- Worked with the CEO and CTO to communicate WePow’s technical vision, to better position the company for acquisition

My contract was to help them productize their well-received MVA product by managing their distributed/offshore engineering team as VP of engineering and to use my experience to introduce or reinforce best practices to Product Management, Quality Assurance (QA), Development and DevOps. During my time at ContractWrangler, I: - Created a Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment environment.- Improved performance, reliability and lowered costs through the creation of a platform strategy and by designing an architecture that uses AWS services efficiently.- Designed a Lambda based framework to efficiently apply NLP models at specific points in the product’s workflow.- Introduced TDD and automated testing.- Created an overall product design and development process that reduced time to ship new features, improved quality and reduced sprint cadence from months to every two weeks. - Met with Venture investors, prospects and integration partners to explain technical strategy.- Was the primary technical contact with integration partners.

Made PatternBuilders a trusted expert on all things Big Data with strong analyst relationships across the industry. Represented PatternBuilders as the main technology evangelist for not only its technology, but the streaming analytics industry in general. Recruited a stellar group of advisors and board members, including CRM pioneers and founding members of Oracle.Recruited and led the engineering team for all phases of the project including the successful port to Azure.

This is certainly not the most lucrative project I have been involved in but it is certainly the one I am proudest of. I had to take a 12 month leave of absence from PatternBuilders in May 2014 to care for a very ill mother who spent seven months in the ICU. Mom is home healthy and happy now.

Founded Reseller Manager to address the extreme data challenges that giant retailers like Walmart faced in the deluge of data that the first IOT device - RFID Tags - had created in their supply chain. Recruited and led an agile development team of 10 distributed engineers in the creation of both an on premise and a hosted retail specific streaming analytics engine and associated web UI.Recruited world-class board members, advisors, and investors with direct expertise in retail, including landing Lawrence Jackson former number two at Walmart as a board member and investor.Other angel investors included a Walmart board member and former Dean of the Harvard Business School as well as a former CEO of Compaq and a well-known angel and venture capitalist. Negotiated beneficial partnerships with Netezza (Now IBM) and Sun Microsystems. These partnerships were usually reserved for series A-B companies. Built a product that people loved, but unfortunately was a vitamin not a pain pill, and products like that don’t survive a recession. Several ongoing pilots were poised to turn into revenue when the 2009 recession hit and, destroyed the appetite for anything but the most basic investments by retailers in IT. Most of our competitors went out of business, we laid off some folks and began to redevelop our technology into a hosted streaming analytics engine. This pivot became PatternBuilders and was the kernel of its cloud based streaming analytics engine.

Built partnerships with major ERP vendors.Raised over $4 MM dollars in venture capital.Ran all business operations as well as development.

Founding Team Member and Database Architect for 4 releases of the KLA - 2550, the first GUI wafer analysis station in the semi-conductor industry, setting the standard for semi-conductor SPC analysis tools. At one point the 2550 was KLA’s highest margin product.
