Since I moved to South Florida, I've become an active startup teacher, volunteer and Mentor in the local tech venture ecosystem. For those not aware, there's a lot of capital here, and a lot of tech business veterans interested in making use of their capital. Florida is 6th in the country for research universities commercializing their tech, so the area's become a fertile location for tech+expertise+capital. So, I focus on credible startups and small tech companies. I help them grow, and buy or sell them when needed. My strongest focus right now is the Venture Mentor Team (www.thevmt.org), an altruistic, carefully vetted and growing team of over 260 trained business professionals nurturing high-quality startups. My early career was in network Product Management (25 products). I finished up by closing deals in tech Corporate Development and M&A, completing 40+ key strategic transactions ranging up to $3B in individual value, and delivered tech solutions in Product Management and Marketing. I negotiated acquisitions, divestitures and corporate restructurings, working with C-suites and Boards. Running deal teams was fascinating as I closed tech transactions in software, IT services, databases, web applications companies, aerospace, network systems, and semiconductors. International M&A was a specialty, closing deals in the UK, Norway, Germany, Israel, France, Canada and Brazil. Deals varied from large public companies to private companies, VC investments, technology alliances and divestitures.Public speaking was and is important to me. It included panels at the Conference Board Corporate Development meetings; ACG seminars and panels; Incremental Advantage Diligence conferences; as well as Wharton School MBA and Stern School MBA guest lectures. I was also published in Corporate Dealmaker and M&A Magazine. It's been a great time, and I'm looking forward to many more enjoyable years in this Florida startup ecosystem.
