I've loved marketing since 16 years old, reading my first book "Positioning by Al Ries and Jack Trout". I continued this passion of studying marketing at University and graduating with 3 degrees. Unfortunately academia did not quench my entrepreneurial thirst, so I ventured into starting my first business which was a print shop (that evolved into a publishing house), while jumping into property development at the same time. I was running Google ads in 2004 and VSLs funnels in 2007 before it was even a 'thing'. I grew both my publishing house and property development business into high 6 and 7 figures respectively. Just when things were on cruise control, life had other plans... Amazon decided to get into the self publishing game. And the Great Recession hit. It was a double whammy. At 35, I lost millions. The guilt of losing my investors’ money left me with one thing: suicidal thoughts.After a painful couple of years, the guidance of a life coach friend and deep inner work, I was brought back to my true passion: marketing.Over the years I’ve gotten extremely good at helping experts & coaches reach millions through my radical marketing system. In the 4+ year period we had flipped over 16 houses and town houses with a net realised value of around $6M. Essentially we found old properties that no one wanted, renovated them and sold them for a profit. I was in charge of project management and marketing for the various projects. We focused on both residential and commercial property developments in Queensland, Australia. By 2008 we had $22M of assets under our control and with a potential net development value of $130M. However the global financial crisis hit and our funding sources for development dried up, hence we decided to sell off the properties and wind down the company. It was a tremendous learning experience, in particular it taught me to raise funds and real estate project marketing.

In this time I was a major contributor to several textbooks, the most noted one was "Internet Marketing Research" (1997) which was published by McGraw-Hill, which was the first comprehensive book of its kind in the world on how to conduct market research on the Internet.In this time I also started many Internet ventures, including a student community website (austudents.com), a property listing website (www.propertyisland.com) and a Internet market research business (zintelligence.com). They were used as experiments to test out the internet marketing theories we were teaching. I was also the Research Manager in the China Marketing Centre initiative that was aimed to create a depository of marketing literature on the fast-emerging Chinese economy, which was a joint initiative between Griffith University and the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics.
