I am a molecular biologist who fell in love with bioinformatics right after graduation (2002, Sapienza University of Rome), when I first met this field by enrolling in a master's degree on the topic (2003, Sapienza University of Rome). After that first sight, I had the chance to enrich my computational biology toolbox through seminal work experiences abroad (2004-2006, Center for Comparative Functional Genomics at New York University; 2006-2007, Center for Systems Biology of Gene Regulatory Elements at Max-Delbruck Center for Molecular Medicine of Berlin-Buch). Meanwhile, I started to focus my research on non-coding RNAs (microRNAs just stood on stage in front of thousands amazed researchers at the time) in early stages of embryogenesis of the model system C. elegans. Back to Italy, I started to apply bioinformatics to investigating the role of short and long non-coding RNAs in human cancer during my PhD studies (2007-2010, Sapienza University of Rome). Since 2009 I have been enjoying lecturing on Genomics, Bioinformatics and R programming in several advanced courses offered by the Sapienza University of Rome and other academic and research institutions (Campus Bio-Medico University, CINECA). Presently, I am a postdoc at the Institute for Systems Analysis and Computer Science "A. Ruberti" (IASI-CNR). Here I work in an energetic and passionate group of research led by Dr Paola Paci and focused on developing analytical tools and algorithms to investigate the biology of non-coding RNAs in cancer. Our group is an active and enthusiastic partner of different interdisciplinary research networks (SYSBIO - Centre of Systems Biology, EPIGEN - Epigenomics Flagship Project).
