I volunteered to helping with an intervention program to help first time sexual abused children and their families. In this position I advocated for these families by making sure they got to their appointments, checked in with their DSS caseworker, educated the family on what certain terms meant, and i used my active listening skills when the parents needed to talk. I’ve also completed my first practicum at Walden University utilizing my SOLER skills, non-verbal communication, reflection of feeling, creating a contract, validation and a host of other skills.
