Directly reporting to the Director of IBEC, I lead the Strategic Initiatives Unit, whose creation I led in 2016.The mission of the Strategic Initiatives is to lead the overall institutional positioning strategy of IBEC, including, among others, elaboration of the strategic Plan of IBEC, strategic planning implementation, development of institutional projects (such as a Marie Sklodowska Curie COFUND for setting up a postdoctoral programme), scientific policies, institutional evaluations, monitoring of KPIs, academic and scientific activities, international strategic alliances and partnerships with research centres, companies, hospitals and networks such as EIT Health.I am also in charge of the periodic evaluations of the Institute by our Governing Board and funding bodies, as well as the coordination and management of the Severo Ochoa Strategic Programme. IBEC is one of the top research institutions awarded as a Severo Ochoa Research Centre by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation, which recognises excellence at the highest international level and provides 1M€/year to the institute for the implementation of strategic research, training, human resources, outreach and technology transfer programmes.

At the end of 2008 I was commissioned to lead the creation of the Research Projects Unit of the Institute of Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC). I defined the vision, needs, goals, structure, and resources of the department. I set up all the procedures and processes for the management of R&D&I projects of the Institute. At the end of 2015, I was leading a well trained and motivated team, responsible for the management of national and international R&D&I projects from the identification of the funding opportunity, preparation of contracts and agreements, daily management of ongoing projects (including liaison with funding bodies, coordination between partners, project reporting, supervision of tasks, milestones and deliverables, budget control, communication, intellectual property management and technology transfer).I also provided support to IBEC’s direction in the strategy of the institute, being responsible, among others, for:- Organization of the yearly international IBEC Symposium on Bioengineering and Nanomedicine and other institutional conferences such as the 2nd China-Europe Symposium of Biomaterials and Regenerative Medicine 2009- Preparation of the programme of general scientific seminars and of special sessions for PhD students training- Evaluation of the impact of the scientific production of IBEC - Identification of strategic partners and cooperation schemes as well as emerging topics and trends in Bioengineering and Nanomedicine.

During the initial set-up phase of IBEC, I assisted the director of the institute in several strategic tasks by, among others,- contributing to the design of the Master Development Plan of the Institute, including benchmarking of research institutes in the bioengineering field, SWOT analysis and definition of strategic lines, objectives and key performance indicators- coordinating the negotiation of the strategic agreement between IBEC and its two founding Universities, which resulted in the formal incorporation to IBEC of 10 of its current 15 research lines - contributing to the definition of requirements of the new headquarters of IBEC- coordinating outreach activities to the general public, including institutional participation in ESOF2008

The Spanish Platform for Nanomedicine is a forum that brings together 170+ public research centres, hospitals, companies, start-ups and government representatives active in nanomedicine. Nanomed Spain is an instrument to coordinate entities involved in research and innovation, fundamental to the transfer of nanomedicine results to industry and the health system. It is also aimed at promoting the internationalisation of initiatives and projects, with the aim of improving the competitiveness of Spain in this field. Industry in the biomedical and biotechnology sector plays a leading role in the Platform, very actively supported by technology centres, research organisations, universities and hospitals, as well as by the national public administration.Nanomed Spain was created in 2005 based on the model of the European Technological Platforms and in particular, of the European Technology Platform on Nanomedicine (ETPN), also created in 2005 by the industrial partners of the area and the European Commission.

I was the project manager of the STREP project “Injectable Macroporous Biomaterial based on Calcium Phosphate Cement for Bone Regeneration”, founded by the 6th Framework Programme of the European Commission, with the participation of 7 partners from 5 different countries and coordinated by the Unit.I was in charge of the management tasks related to the preparation of proposals and the participation of the Unit in research projects under several funding schemes: Marie Curie Research Training Networks, Large Scale Integrated Projects and National projects (Proyectos de investigación fundamental no orientada, Acciones Integradas, etc.) I was responsible for the financial management of the Unit.

As statistical officer of the Academic and Students Area of the University of Barcelona, I was in charge of:- Implementing tools for efficient exploitation of statistical data of the University- Designing and preparing reports with statistical information about the University- Cooperating with IT staff to optimise data collecting and processing- Maintaining and updating databases of the University and ensuring the quality of data
