PhD in Physics with a MSc in Leadership and Management of Science. 15+ years of experience in project management and strategy development of R&D&I organisations, including the creation of the departments of R&D&I project management and of Strategic Initiatives of the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia, one of the top R&D&I centres in Spain.     Directly reporting to the Director of IBEC, I lead the Strategic Initiatives Unit, whose creation I led in 2016.The mission of the Strategic Initiatives is to lead the overall institutional positioning strategy of IBEC, including, among others, elaboration of the strategic Plan of IBEC, strategic planning implementation, development of institutional projects (such as a Marie Sklodowska Curie COFUND for setting up a postdoctoral programme), scientific policies, institutional evaluations, monitoring of KPIs, academic and scientific activities, international strategic alliances and partnerships with research centres, companies, hospitals and networks such as EIT Health.I am also in charge of the periodic evaluations of the Institute by our Governing Board and funding bodies, as well as the coordination and management of the Severo Ochoa Strategic Programme. IBEC is one of the top research institutions awarded as a Severo Ochoa Research Centre by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation, which recognises excellence at the highest international level and provides 1M€/year to the institute for the implementation of strategic research, training, human resources, outreach and technology transfer programmes.

    At the end of 2008 I was commissioned to lead the creation of the Research Projects Unit of the Institute of Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC). I defined the vision, needs, goals, structure, and resources of the department. I set up all the procedures and processes for the management of R&D&I projects of the Institute. At the end of 2015, I was leading a well trained and motivated team, responsible for the management of national and international R&D&I projects from the identification of the funding opportunity, preparation of contracts and agreements, daily management of ongoing projects (including liaison with funding bodies, coordination between partners, project reporting, supervision of tasks, milestones and deliverables, budget control, communication, intellectual property management and technology transfer).I also provided support to IBEC’s direction in the strategy of the institute, being responsible, among others, for:- Organization of the yearly international IBEC Symposium on Bioengineering and Nanomedicine and other institutional conferences such as the 2nd China-Europe Symposium of Biomaterials and Regenerative Medicine 2009- Preparation of the programme of general scientific seminars and of special sessions for PhD students training- Evaluation of the impact of the scientific production of IBEC - Identification of strategic partners and cooperation schemes as well as emerging topics and trends in Bioengineering and Nanomedicine.
