My position at Newman University enables me to assist adults in completing their degrees and advancing their professional careers. Additionally, I contribute to the local economy by developing the talent pool for companies within our community. Working at a university that follows the scholar-practitioner model allows me to apply and utilize my expertise in executive presentation, communication, and business training as a private consultant.Since joining Newman University in 2008, I have held several academic leadership positions, including Interim Dean of the School of Business, Assistant Dean of the School of Business, and currently, Director of the Adult and Professional Studies program and Lead Internship Coordinator within the School of Business and Technology. My teaching portfolio includes a diverse range of communication and business courses and workshops, such as Business Communication and Professional Skills, Emotional Intelligence in Business, Resume/Interviewing, Oral Communication, Interpersonal Communication, Voice and Diction, Nonverbal Communication, Cross-cultural Communication, Mass Media, Mass Media Law, Debate & Argumentation, Senior Communication Seminar, and Negotiation and Influence.Within the community, I actively work with new entrepreneurs and start-up companies, coaching them in the art of business pitching. I have served as a mentor with the local e2e Accelerator entrepreneur program, a keynote speaker for the Wichita State Business Booster series hosted by the Center of Entrepreneurship, and a pitch coach for LaunchPrep. I frequently volunteer my time coaching aspiring entrepreneurs on their pitch presentations.Furthermore, I have consulted with large corporations and established local organizations, training their employees in public speaking, persuasive strategy, visual presentation, communication soft skills, and customer service. My clients have included Spirit AeroSystems, Wichita State Center for Entrepreneurship, Cox Communication, The United Way, Young Professionals of Wichita, Cessna Aircraft Company, The Boeing Company, The Public Relations Society of America, National Association of Women Business Owners, USD 259, Wichita Technology Corporation, KTEC Pipeline Innovator program, Miss Kansas International, and Congressional candidates.I was also honored to be a keynote speaker at national conferences for the Public Relations Society of America and Ruffalo Noel Levitz.
