Teresa is a dynamic leader and public speaker with more than 20 years of progressive experience. Expertly works with diverse constituencies to promote building alliance and partnerships. Teresa was recently elected to her 3rd term as NAACP Illinois State President. Teresa received the 57th annual First Citizen Award. Haley was awarded for recognition of her unselfish service she gives to the community.Teresa was the first black chairperson for the American Red Cross for the Illinois Capital Area Regional Chapter. Under her leadership, she has increased minority involvement in the Springfield community. Since serving on the board for the American Red Cross she has increased minority participation. Teresa promotes safety and educated the community about the Red Cross. She is the lead instructor for Save a Life Saturday that teaches CPR to the Springfield community.Teresa is a proud board member for Habitat for Humanity of Sangamon County. She serves on the Family Selection Committee.Teresa is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and has served in several leadership positions with the chapter including 1st Vice President, Chair of Social Action and Public Relations. Teresa was the participant chair for Delta’s LaPetite girl’s mentoring program. Teresa is an active member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She sings in the choir and serves as a Sunday school teacher to 18-34 year olds. Teresa was the Diversity Specialist for School District #186 and still volunteers her services to the district. She is the President of the Springfield Branch NAACP and has served on the Executive Committee for over 18 years. Teresa serves as the Statewide Health Chair.
