Teresa Girão has been dedicated to a career in science communication, consulting and management developing major organizational, planning, and public relations skills. She is currently the Director of the Botanic Garden of the University of Coimbra and a research scientist in science communication at the Science Museum and the Centre for Functional Ecology - Science for People & the Planet (CFE, Univ. of Coimbra). She was previously the deputy director for collections at the Science Museum (2019-2021). She has previously worked as a science communication manager at the Botanic Garden and as an exhibition developer at the Science Museum, University of Coimbra, as the science communication officer for the Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology, and as the director of the Junior Science Centre at Biocant – Biotechnology Innovation Center. She holds a degree in Biochemistry, a Ph.D. in Biochemical Technology, and post-doctoral training in Neuroscience. Her research activity was firstly focused on the field of biotechnology and neuroscience gaining extensive scientific and technical expertise.
