As a deputy editor, I help manage Grist's award-winning multimedia news coverage, including overseeing our data and graphics team and special project builds. I help pioneer innovative storytelling techniques, acting as the editorial lead between the design, social, and product departments. I also manage Grist's fellowship program, which helps diverse, early-career journalists make the transition to national climate reporters.

Grist is the nation’s leading green news publication. As a senior editor, I help plan and oversee Grist's special projects, including multimedia builds, custom visuals, and online strategy. I also led Grist's environmental justice team for over a year, assigning stories and managing staff writers, fellows, and freelancers. I specialize in both long-form features and multimedia storytelling.

As a senior producer in Youth Radio's Peabody Award-winning newsroom, I worked with young people to create and edit audio, video, and online content for national outlets including NPR, The New York Times, and Teen Vogue. I also led Youth Radio's art/design department, where I supervised a staff of artists to create original photos and art for our website, social platforms, and apps/interactives. I worked with in-house developers to create original designs, assets, style guides and wireframes for mobile and web-based news stories.My past roles at Youth Radio include Science Producer, Director of Media Education, Digital Producer, and Photoshop Instructor/Adjunct Professor with Berkeley City College.

As a freelancer, I specialized in longform science and health reporting. I wrote articles for outlets including Matter, Hyphen, Brink, KALW, KCBS, and Health Affairs

As a Henry J. Kaiser Fellow in Health Reporting, I pitched and reported in-depth stories about the ways health policy impacts people's lives. During my placement at the Cleveland Plain Dealer, I wrote over a dozen features. My articles appeared on the front, metro, travel, and weekly health sections. I also produced several videos, which I shot and edited as part of an online news package on teen mental health.

As a nutrition and physical activity specialist and program evaluator, I created new tools and tutorials for schools to improve engagement with parents, teachers, doctors, and students, advised school districts on sexual health education policy

Peer educator from August 2002- June 2003 at the Unit 3 dorms at the University of California Berkeley. Duties included writing weekly health tips, leading health workshops, conducted health demos, community organizing and outreach, attending health-based lectures, and conducting one-on-one peer counseling sessions. Additional skills included conflict resolution, confidentiality around sensitive issues, and culturally-competent strategic marketing.Health Worker Program Coordinator from June 2003-December 2004. Worked specifically with the International House housing - an 800-person student dorms - with a diverse population of graduate and undergraduate, domestic and international students. Supervised 3-10 Health Workers and helped to coordinate lectures on public health topics. Met regularly with multiple stakeholders, negotiated needs and conflicts, and conducted peer education trainings. Helped to set the foundation for the Health Worker Program at International House in the first year and a half of the program at International House.

Wrote weekly "Sex on Tuesday" Columnist, the nation's longest-running college sex column. Teresa was profiled as an emerging writer by Esquire, Playboy, and Cosmopolitan Magazines, where she received an "A" rating for her writing quality.
