The PhD project included the following Projects:1) Differential effects of Smad3 targeting in a murine model of CKD.2) Expression of HIF-1a and HGF in Development of fibrosis in the transplanted kidney.3) Gender-dependent expression of ECM components in a murine model of CKD.Study 1 and 3 were performed in a TGF-beta1 driven renal disease model, whereas study 2 was a clinical study using protocol biopsies 1 and 2 years after renal transplantation.Skills gained or trained:• Hands-on researcher• Experience in molecular biology and chemistry• Strong analytical skills and a structured mind-set• Responsibly for development and management of animal experiments and clinical trials. • Great creativity and innovative ideas.• Interpretation of results, preparation of figures and writing manuscripts.• Strong communicator•Technical skills: extraction and RT-qPCR, Western Blot, histology on human samples, several animal models, zymography, IHC
