Charged with accounting system oversight, providing accurate data to stakeholders, ensuring compliance with regulatory authorities, and continuously improving processes, internal controls, and reporting to be as efficient and effective as possible. Essential Functions:• Maintain a comprehensive, efficient and effective fund accounting system and chart of accounts• Envision and implement improvements to accounting operations • Ensure completeness, consistency and accuracy of all accounting data• Lead accounting team in executing best practices, developing skills, and achieving goals• Organize workflow of all accounting tasks to meet reporting deadlines • Oversee financial statement preparation; and audit, tax return, and charitable registration filings• Coordinate Audit Committee discussion of audited financial statements and tax returns• Manage cash flow to meet operational needs • Support budget preparation and tracking • Advise staff and constituents of policies, procedures, accounting standards, and tax regulations; and collaborate to prevent or resolve issues• Maintain awareness of changes in accounting standards and tax law affecting non-profit entities, implement changes, and research accounting and tax issues as needed• Interact professionally with a diverse audience of individuals and groups in various settings
