Assisted w/ hiring volunteer tutors; creating and delivering training. Supervising a staff of 7 that spans 18+ hours of the day; coordinating with Sales, Trucking, Purchasing, and Warehouse departments in the day-to-day management of highly perishable fresh produce inventory both in and out of our warehouse. Responsibilities include: helping to define work procedures for my department and others; working with Training as a subject-matter expert to help create and deliver training for staff; participating in ordering, shipping, receiving, counting and supervising others in this work; creating and editing reports and spreadsheets/ other documents to support maximum returns and minimum shrink of our inventory. I am knowledgeable about grades and standards of fresh fruits and vegetables as defined by the USDA Agricultural Marketing service. My staff and I inspect and report on our produce daily. Our reporting, with text and photos, is used to communicate quality and condition to our Purchasing and Sales departments, and sent to vendors when more serious issues arise.I assist with the creation and management of innovative ways to ensure our Warehouse staff receives and ships the correct items from vendors/farms to customers.I work with my Manager to schedule staff across 24-hour days and I serve as the first point of contact for concerns raised by my staff. I am often the senior staff available on-site for unexpected situations that arise during evenings and weekends.
