Over the past 12 months we have expanded our services so decided it was time for a name change. Turtle CYP came from a young person who said they feel safe under our shell until they were ready to break out and achieve what they want to achieve.

I will be delivering community based learning courses to a range of adults across South Gloucestershire. This role will help me bring my passion of supporting adults in anyway I can. I will deliver courses where adults can progress, as well as courses that will support parents within their families. I am very excited to be able to work with such an amazing team of people who are passionate about empowering people.

After 10 years of managing the Four Towns Playscheme as a community organisation (in addition to my previous roles with SBCP), we made the decision to become a registered charity and changed our name to reflect the area we now cover. I also became the Director of this amazing charity early in 2021. We provide free school holiday activities for children aged 5-11. We also hold family activity sessions as we understand the importance of play within families. In the next few months, we will be expanding to deliver accredited youth work and okay work training. We feel it important to train our amazing staff to ensure children and young people accessing our services have the best experience possible.

My new role has several dimensions. The largest part of the role is overseeing the new BBO (Building Better Opportunities) project which is led in the South West by Weston College and funded by ESF funding and National Lottery funding. I manage a team of 4 for this project who work with people who are economically inactive and the farthest from employment. The aim is to improve mental health, improve training opportunities, volunteering opportunities, work experiences and getting people work ready / into employment. The project started in Jan 2017 and is for 3 years. This role involves setting up and managing a steering group of local partners for BBO as well as other local VCSE, statutory organisation's and businesses to improve cohesive working within South Gloucestershire. I manage a budget and will also be completing funding applications to help support individuals and groups of people we support. Another part of my role is overseeing courses and tutors, teaching and completing funding applications to deliver Community Learning courses in South Gloucestershire and Bristol. These courses are aimed at the long term unemployed, people with less than a level 2 qualification, poor mental health, English as a second language or people who would like to gain employability skills. We currently deliver a variety of courses such as: Introduction to youth work, Grow your own, parenting ADHD and Introduction to working with children. I plan and deliver NOCN accredited courses in youth work. This also involves helping learners secure funding or setting up payment plans. We are hoping to expand our accreditation courses offer over the next few years. This diverse role also involves me line managing; Youth Work Manager and team, Anti hate crime ambassador, volunteer centre, volunteer coordinator, playscheme coordinator as well as the BBO team.I am part of the leadership team working on very exciting 3, 5 and 10 years plans for the organisation.

Developing and delivering parenting courses, introduction to youth work courses and accredited Level 2 and Level 3 Youth Work Practice courses.

Managing the volunteer centre in Patchway. Providing drop in sessions for volunteers and organisation's in Patchway, Bradley Stoke, Stoke Gifford and Filton. Managing the budget. Completing funding applications and doing presentations to funders and prospective funders.

Supporting vulnerable families and young people to improve their lives in South Gloucestershire. This included 1-2-1 work as well as group work such as 'Family club' which enables parents and children to bond through play and activities.

Managing the HYPE project (Helping Young People into Employment). Managing a budget. Creating individualised support plans to help young people access training and work.
