The Secretary of the Nation & Commerce is an appointed and confirmed cabinet position responsible for the Nation’s economic development, intergovernmental relationships, and social welfare policy development. Terra served as the key point of contact to her Nation during the acceptance, implementation and reporting for Coronavirus Relief Funding and Fiscal Recovery Funding. She helped develop agribusiness ventures, conducted due diligence activities and supported land acquisitions during her tenure.

Under the direction of the Secretary of the Nation and Commerce and working with various major department heads, I work to develop, improve and implement tribal programs and projects. I also perform oversight and monitoring of Self-Governance activities and services to assure the Nation’s plans and/or agreements are in compliance with the provisions of applicable federal and tribal laws, regulations and rules governing the use and expenditure of federal or tribal funds.

As the Executive Director I work collectively with Tribal leadership to protect and promote Self-Governance tenants, to develop and support legislative, budget, and policy priorities and to provide technical assistance to Tribal governments regard Self-Governance. I also manage a team of staff and contractors to plan and implement six Self-Governance meetings a year. These meetings provide Tribes an opportunity to develop consensus based positions, to advocate for expansion of Self-Governance and to learn best practices for maximization of Self-Governance.

As a legislative associate I am responsible for coordinating health care and youth policy and grant work. My portfolio includes health reform implementation and policy analysis, juvenile justice policy, youth development and substance abuse prevention. I also act as a the team lead for several grants, one for youth leadership development and the other for health care implementation.

I am the primary analyst of health policy at NCAI and run our health reform implementation education and outreach. I also assist in projects that affect American Indian and Alaska Native youth including leadership development, health lifestyles, and substance abuse and suicide prevention.

The New Leaders Fellowship is a six-month part-time leadership and professional development program that provides young progressives who are working for social change with the opportunity to strengthen their leadership skills and deepen their networks in the progressive movement. Fellows will participate in training, coaching, project based work and community building.

I will be working under the Enforcement Divison as an intern to track Class II gaming. I will begin this internship right after graudation and complete the internship on July 31st.

Assist in development and implementation of new Management and Leadership Development Program. Researched and evaluated twenty-four leadership programs for the initial program development. Revised and created presentations, outlining the structure and curriculum of the new program. Planned, created, and executed marketing plans, and materials for the program's launch.
