About Ian Wright
Geologist/Manager with over 30 years of international experience in applying Quaternary Science to solving people's problems. Now focused on delivering projects safely in the field of renewables, marine, coastal, environmental and exploration geology, geophysics and geotechnics. Works globally on local govt., infrastructure, oil/gas, submarine cable, environmental and mining projects and has lately been involved in a number of offshore and onshore renewables.Recent work includes: Geotechnical management and specialist input for various confidential Australian offshore wind projects, onshore BESS geotech investigations and pipeline studies for Worley. Also helped in the Kaikoura earthquake recovery including 6 months as the Jacobs Infrastructure Rebuild Team Leader, private rockfall mitigation and offshore surveying. From 2013 to 2017 I was with Christchurch City Council as the principal technical adviser for geotechnical and natural hazard, civil defense response and recovery in the post-Earthquake rebuild. Council expert witness for natural hazards chapter of the District Plan Review. Part of the Technical Evaluation Team for the residential red zone. Lead geotech adviser on the Sumner Road rockfall mitigation project.In 2011 and 2012 I worked for INTECSEA on both their Anadarko AMA-1 project in Mozambique and the South Stream Gas Pipeline Project, providing geohazard and geotechnical expertise.In 2008 I worked with INTECSEA as their supervising geotech engineer on the Exxonmobil PNG-LNG project.Joined EGS (Hong Kong) in 2000, involved with the management of numerous global offshore oil/gas and submarine cable surveying and installation projects, including DNV ISO:9001 QA and HSE Management Systems.
