About Terrell Iron Shell

Terrell Iron Shell, He/Him, is Eastern Band of Cherokee, a citizen of the Oglala Lakota Nation and is from the Black Hills region in South Dakota. He has over a decade of experience in community organizing, nonviolent direct action, and building power with youth movements. He is a co-founder of the International Indigenous Youth Council (IIYC), which was founded in the resistance camps in Standing Rock in 2016 and now consists of around half a dozen chapters across the US, and is the founder and a mentor of its Oglala Lakota Chapter in South Dakota. Terrell has taken part in numerous nonviolent direct action trainings and has been facilitating NVDA trainings for several years, and has provided on the ground training and support for many frontline resistance camps all across Turtle Island. He has also received various awards and honorings from the National Relief Charities, US Forest service, Dept of Agriculture, the United Church of Christ and other spiritual leaders, and, through work done with the IIYC, the RFK Ripple of Hope award.
