Terry teaches courses in human resource management and related business subjects. Specific courses include Compensation, Training & Development, Employment Law, Staffing, Strategic HR Management, HR Management, Management Principles, Organizational Behavior, Quality Management, Careers, and Corporate Social Responsibility. He has been part of planning and implementation team for the NIU College of Business BELIEF Program (Building Ethical Leaders using an Integrated Ethics Framework), which has helped propel NIU to be recognized as one of the top undergraduate business programs in the country for ethics education.Terry has served on many committees and task forces at NIU. He has been a member of personnel committees at all levels of the institution (Department, College Council and University Council Personnel Committee). He has served on the Athletic Board, including many years as Chair. Other committees include University Council, curriculum, university scholarships, and numerous search committees. He has also served on task forces to study the university-wide scholarships program, student attraction and retention, interdisciplinary integration in the College of Business, and - most recently - the general education program (PLUS Task Force). Terry also serves the NIU COB as adviser on labor-management relations in negotiations and contract administration.His research is focused on HR management topics, including strategic HRM and staffing.Terry has worked with many organizations, private & public, providing training, education and consultative services through NIU Outreach and the Center for Human Capital and Leadership (http://www.cob.niu.edu/humancapital/). Topics include HR leadership, HR strategy, talent management, organizational & professional ethics, and change management.Specialties: talent management, employment branding, HR vendor management, HR metrics, HR scorecards, strategic HR management roles, and the evolution of the HR profession.
