The IACP is over 100 years old, and has more than 25,000 members from 124 countries. Founded in 1893, the association's goals are to advance the science and art of police services; to develop and disseminate improved administrative, technical and operational practices and promote their use in police work; to foster police cooperation and the exchange of information and experience among police administrators throughout the world; to bring about recruitment and training in the police profession of qualified persons; and to encourage adherence of all police officers to high professional standards of performance and conduct. Since 1893, the International Association of Chiefs of Police has been serving the needs of the law enforcement community. Throughout those past 100-plus years, they have been launching historically acclaimed programs, conducting ground-breaking research and providing exemplary programs and services to our membership across the globe.

Wellesley Police

I have more than a decade of experience in a cosmopolitan police agency as the Chief of Police in the Town of Wellesley Massachusetts Police Department, serving as chief from 1999 to present. During my33 year career in professional policing I have served as a police executive, investigator, police supervisor, police officer and police academy instructor. During my tenure I have continued to work closely with pubic safety officials and others at Wellesley College, Babson College and Massachusetts Bay Community College. A member of the Massachusetts Bay Community College; Criminal Justice Advisory Board from 1998-2008.

The Greater Boston Police Council, Inc. (GBPC) is a membership organization, comprised of law enforcement and public safety agencies from across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont. GBPC is governed by an Executive Board comprised of the Chiefs of Police from thirteen local police departments from across Eastern Massachusetts. GBPC offers several core services to its membership. The “backbone” and hallmark of the organization is the member Massachusetts police departments who utilize the Boston Area Police Emergency Radio Network (BAPERN), which was designed and built, and is currently maintained, by the GBPC. BAPERN was developed in the 1970’s to facilitate interagency radio communications and has been used on a daily basis since that time for wide-area and regional law enforcement notifications, as well as incident command during special events and operations.

Founded in 1926:We recognize the need for a unified effort to promote and maintain the highest level of professionalism in the field of enforcement and to gain the full support and cooperation of the public we serve.In partnership with the Justice System Training and Research Institute at Roger Williams University, Bristol, RI, the Association continues a tradition which began in 1967 with the New England Institute for Law Enforcement Management. The Command Training Series is designed to expand training and education, particularly in specialized management and leadership principles for law enforcement supervisors, command officers, managers, and administrators.

The MCOPA advances professional police services; promotes enhanced administrative, technical, and operational police practices; fosters cooperation and the exchange of information and experience among police leaders and police organizations of recognized professional and technical standing throughout the Commonwealth. they continue to champion the recruitment and training of qualified persons in the police profession and encourage all police personnel statewide to achieve and maintain the highest standards of ethics, integrity, community interaction and professional conduct.I served as the chairman of the Legislative Committee handling all legislative matters for eight years. In this capacity I met with legislative and executive branch leaders including governors and lieutenant governors, US senators and congressmen on matters affecting public safety. I testified before the United States Senate Committee on the Judiciary and many joint committees in the Massachusetts State Legislature.

The Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council (Metro-LEC) was established for the purpose of providing a working collaboration between law enforcement agencies in the metropolitan Boston area. It consists of over 40 police agencies including four sheriff's departments. Metro-LEC is an operational entity that is represented by the Chiefs of Police from each of its member agencies.
