I’m the co-founder, President, and CEO of SageSure, one of the largest managing general underwriters focused on catastrophe-exposed markets in the US. Recognized by Insurance Insider US Honors as the 2024 and 2023 Property Catastrophe Underwriting Team of the Year, SageSure manages more than $2.0 billion of inforce premium and protects more than 650,000 policyholders. SageSure is the culmination of my 25 years of insurance, finance, and technology experience, including 8 patents granted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for risk rating, risk evaluating, and insurance quoting technology. This year I was named the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2024 National Financial Services and Fintech Award winner, an honor I share with our incredible team here at SageSure. SageSure has experienced exceptional growth while generating underwriting profits for carrier partners through hurricanes, wildfires, and hail. Recently, I oversaw the formation of three reciprocal insurance exchanges and a captive reinsurance vehicle, funded with ~$300 million to support new capacity. Capital partners have committed more than $1 billion to support SageSure’s continued growth, including an $800 million credit facility from Ares.To support underwriting partners through the hardest reinsurance market of the last 30 years, SageSure helped them secure more than $1.9 billion in reinsurance capacity in 2023 and $2.5 billion in 2024. Leveraging the ILS market for efficient risk capital, the SageSure-supported Gateway Re franchise has had 8 successful catastrophe bond issuances, totaling $1.2 billion of cumulative notional limit in just over two years, making SageSure one of the top five primary cat bond sponsors in the US. My father, who wrote for the National Underwriter for 30 years, inspired my lifelong passion for insurance and my education in finance, actuarial science, and technology. I graduated with honors from the Management & Technology Program at the University of Pennsylvania, earning BAS in engineering and a BSE from The Wharton School with concentrations in computer science, finance, and actuarial science.In my free time, I’m an avid runner and cyclist who bikes to work every day—rain or shine—and I enjoy traveling and spending time with my wife Suzzy and our four children Kara, Liam, Emma, and Alex. I’m also passionate about helping more people attain more affordable homeownership, and I focus my philanthropic efforts on climate resilience research and raising awareness of climate change’s impact on home affordability.
