About Dr. Terrence Mitchell

After retiring with over 30 years in higher education, I've finally made time to pursue my interests outside of the work I was doing with my career. I am teaching at our local Erie County Community College (EC3PA), focusing on Intro to Sociology and Race and Ethnicity courses.I am continuing as the director and educational consultant for the CREED College Readiness Program, co-founded with my wife in 2010. We remain committed to supporting the academic and social success of underrepresented students, with new programs planned to reach the large adult learner population in Erie. In November 2023, I launched Mitchell's Modern: Affordable Vintage, a venture inspired by my passion for mid-century modern design and the belief that everyone deserves access to unique, high-quality furnishings.Part-time teaching allows me the flexibility to nurture my business endeavors and helps enrich my understanding of Erie and foster a greater appreciation for its community. My journey as a seller of vintage home décor is not just a business; it’s a celebration of the connections we make through our shared histories, as seen in the mid-century pieces curated—each telling a story of its own.
