As a collections designer I am monitoring trends and street style constantly to ensure I am knowledgeable about my product, this then informs my decisions to help deliver brand appropriate design in line with the critical path. I design and develop trend led and functional bags and accessories across sport, fashion & core ranges, this usually starts with creating a silhouette direction, and working on colour, fabric & trim development that falls in line with cost and quality expectations… Show more As a collections designer I am monitoring trends and street style constantly to ensure I am knowledgeable about my product, this then informs my decisions to help deliver brand appropriate design in line with the critical path. I design and develop trend led and functional bags and accessories across sport, fashion & core ranges, this usually starts with creating a silhouette direction, and working on colour, fabric & trim development that falls in line with cost and quality expectations. Working with my cross functional teams helps to ensure that this product is viable and fits in line with the range plan, it is then managed and maintained on our PLM system. I will then create technical drawings to communicate the design function and aesthetic, I also travel to factories when required to establish the product development, this could also include visits to trade fairs to source new fabrics, trims or suppliers. Once the range is selected I then present it back to the exec team and global sales team.Whilst working in this role I lead and mentor junior members – although it is important to ensure that they are learning and growing within their skills and delivering the right product I also feel that wellbeing is critical to a productive and flourishing team.
