Phd Researcher In Neuroscience
The majority of my research to date falls within the realm of understanding, and ultimately preventing the hearing loss caused by the damaging effects of aminoglycoside antibiotics, which enter cochlear outer hair cells via the mechano-electrical transducer channel. Ergo, I am conducting cellular level hearing research using patch-clamp electrophysiology on cochlear cultures with a focus on entry of ototoxic aminoglycoside antibiotics into outer hair cells and mechano-electric transducer channel blockers.The new project I am working on focuses on the effects of channel blockers on the recently discovered anomolous mechano-sensitive currents in cochlear outer hair cells.
