My responsibilities include private duty nursing for disabled, mostly home-bound patients. Patients include both pediatric and adults with varying disabilities, from ages two years to 53 years, with disabilities such as Cerebral Palsy, Muscular Dystrophy, mental retardation, heart failure, stage-3 pressure ulcers, respiratory issues, dysphagia (including feeding problems), dysphasia, seizure disorders, handicapped motor skills, paraplegia, and ALS. Daily responsibilities include working independently to monitor patient status and provide appropriate care; coordinating their care with doctors, agencies, medical companies, and supervisors; recognizing problems and finding and implementing solutions that best fit the patients' needs.Medical equipment used daily: Ventilator, feeding pump, pulse ox monitor, cough assist, suction machine, wheel chair, ceiling track lift.
