As a grandma of 4, it has been very exciting to run a family run business for the last 6 years. My background as a Federal Employee did not allow much experience in a meritocracy. We were all paid based on tenure. After leaving the Postal Service in 2005, I was introduced to a whole new world in the private sector. People were actually being paid based on how well they did their job? What a fantastic idea! My time at Dell was well spent, taking advantage of the incredible training and learning new skills. When an opportunity presented itself for me to move into a self-employment situation, my personal consultant agreed that it was the right decision.
