Duties include those listed previously plus the management of all responsibilities within the Cisco Networking Academy related to maintaining PPCC’s Academy designation; planning, teaching, supplementing, and assessing the CCNA Routing & Switching courses; developing, planning, teaching, and assessing new courses as necessary to maintain industry relevance; advising new and current students; collaborating within the college and throughout the community in order to assist students in finding relevant industry employment; participating in professional development activities; participating in institutional functions such as college committees and departmental and division meetings; and performing any other task that contributes to student success at PPCC.Recent Projects and Accomplishments: Developed, delivered, and assessed two new cybersecurity courses as part of PPCC’s cybersecurity certificate. These classes included topics such as security policy; incident response; log management, analysis, and monitoring; VPNs; Firewalls; IDPSs; protocols; encryption; networking hardware and software; event monitoring; sniffing; wireless security; and risk analysis. Sole tech person responsible for all Apple hardware and software in the Middle School including MacBook Air laptops, iMac lab, Apple TVs in every classroom, and all student, teacher, staff iPads in a 1:1 Certified Apple School District; managed Media Center print, hardware, and digital resources; assisted district and other building techs as necessary with troubleshooting or large IT projects.

Worked with the chairs of the CNG and Computer Information Systems (CIS) department to teach and assess CNG and CIS classes as necessary. Classes most often taught in this capacity included the four CCNA Routing & Switching courses in the Cisco Networking Academy, Introduction to PC Applications (MS Office Suite), MS Excel, and Networking Fundamentals.

Oversaw all aspects of the campus network & associated systems including design, operation, maintenance, and security. Coordinated the central web, Moodle LMS, email, SAN, virtual & physical server fleet, enterprise backup, enterprise deployment, SQL & MySQL database, CMSs, wired & wireless networks, cable plant, telephony, and security infrastructure resources that served the campus. Provided leadership, budget oversight, direction and advice for policy making, public relations and communication, and professional development for staff. Managed numerous technical projects within IM, including exploration of relevant emerging core technologies. Directed a a staff of six comprised of two network engineers, a senior systems administrator, a systems administrator, a web systems administrator, and a database administrator.Selected Accomplishments Provided leadership and fulfilled the on-campus project management role for the campus wired and wireless network forklift upgrades. Oversaw the consolidation of over 100 servers from physical hardware to a virtual infrastructure and the implementation of the associated IP SAN to support this system. Managed the research into hosted email systems and the subsequent upgrade from Microsoft Exchange 2003 to Microsoft Exchange 2010. Lead major security advancements including network access control, re-architecture of the campus LAN from a flat network into segmented VLANs, the addition of a server farm firewall within the internal network, construction of a DMZ for internet-facing servers, a new SSLVPN for remote access, and crafting policies to address security issues. Assisted with the migration of CC's Moodle-based LMS from a pilot to a production system integral to the campus academic mission. Collaborated with the Division of Communications to deliver a campus portal system and to provide support for campus development of a new college-wide website with a new underlying content management system.

Taught various courses both in classrooms and online relating to Cisco and Network+ certifications, Microsoft Office, server and client operating systems, and web development.Selected Accomplishments Served as Cisco Internetworking Skills Advisor for local Skills USA Chapter - advised one Colorado State Champion in June 2004 who competed at the National level and placed eighth; this student also placed third at the state level in June 2003. Held Lead Instructor role for CIS 115, the core introductory class for the CIS degree. Developed a new program within AVP to replace the Cisco-specific curriculum in accordance with state guidelines. Taught additional classes in collaboration with the Pikes Peak Workforce Center for local area businesses.

Through the Area Vocational Program (AVP), taught Cisco Networking, general Computer Networking concepts, and Computer Information Systems classes to high school kids half-time. In addition, taught these same classes at the post-secondary level. During this time, held Lead Instructor role for CIS 115, the core introductory class for the CIS degree; served as Cisco Internetworking Advisor for the local chapter of Skills USA in which I advised one Colorado state champion at the National Competition in June 2004; and taught Microsoft Office application workshops and classes through the Pikes Peak Workforce Center for local area small businesses.
