At FCPS, I lead a team of individuals with various experience levels within the Financial Reporting and Accounting Team regarding deposits/accounts receivable, fixed assets, and capital leases. Additionally I review and approve journal entries from the Comptrollers Office snd IT, as well as a few other departments at year end. I compile the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for FCPS including balancing between funds assist with compiling the footnotes, complete disclosure checklists, etc. Additionally, I am the audit liaison to the external auditors for the financial statement audit and Single Audit. I also compile the Schedule of Expenditures for Federal Awards SEFA. I am also in the process of implementing a new financial reporting tool to streamline the CAFR compilation. I work closely with the Chief Accounting Officer, Comptroller as well as individuals across many departments and Schools throughout the system, and the County.

• Managed a team of 3 staff to record traffic acquisition costs (TAC) (i.e. Cost of Sales) that exceeds $1B annually. This area is very complex due to the convergence of activity across multiple products and exercising high levels of judgment.• Managed the team during the close process to review and approve journal entries, margin analysis, P&L analysis, Balance Sheet analysis, monthly/quarterly close pack, Balance Sheet reconciliations, working capital analysis, and forecast. • Implemented process improvements.• Increased communication with the International team in London, Revenue team, Finance team, Accounts Payable, and Accounting Policy to ensure a more proactive approach and global consistency in TAC and corresponding Revenue processes.• Improved the timeliness of the team closing the books by developing close calendars by task and holding brief close huddles with the team to keep them on track.• Worked on projects to shift the TAC process from a domestic focus to a more global focus.• Led a working group to revise one of the largest business lines’ global accounting methodology for revenue and TAC by enhancing the reports, decrease the level of judgment used to record revenue and TAC, and to make the accounting activity more predictable for Forecasting by aligning the accounting reporting with operational reporting.• Enhanced how my team booked journal entries to provide more value added information in the GL for more streamlined analysis. • Developed new TAC processes for newly launched products and/or acquisitions in line with accounting policy and to ensure the Revenue team’s and International team’s methodologies are consistent.• Prepared documentation to fulfill requests from internal audit, Verizon, external audit, and consultants.• Ensured compliance with financial policies and Sarbanes Oxley (SOX).

Neustar is a business-to-business Information Services and Analytics company. As a Principal Accountant at Neustar, I'm responsible for revenue recognition of various Neustar contracts and contract management. Evaluate revenue recognition processes and implement process improvements to ensure revenue is appropriately recognized. Advise billing analysts on how revenue should be recognized per the revenue recognition plans in PeopleSoft. Research standards, such as ASC FASB 605 as well as other pronouncements, such as EITFs and SOPs to determine appropriate revenue policy for new products.

From October 2013 - January 2014, I am a Senior Manager in KPMG's Federal audit practice.From October 2011 - September 2013, I was a Manager in KPMG's Federal audit practice. From August 2009-September 2013, I was a Senior Associate in KPMG's Federal audit practice.As a Senior Manager at KPMG, I manage teams of associates and seniors on various State and Local Government and Federal audit engagements. Some clients are large and complex and others are smaller entities. On the larger and more complex engagements, it requires us to work with a team of managers and partners, to complete the engagement. I also mentor others, train my staff on audit methodology, am a Champion for our audit systems, write proposals, and work on "Go to Market" initiatives within my industries.

Oversight of revenue recognition of various fees for the Ritz-Carlton brand and other Marriott brands in the Carribbean/Latin America/South Amercian region

I was responsible for manually assessing the impact of 300 journal entries on the Restated Consolidated Cash Flow Statement for 2004-2006 as well as tie out the final reporting package for each year. In addtion to the Restatement, I was also responsible for writing the MD&A of various sections of the Consolidated Cash Flow Statement.

From July 2005 - December 2006, I was a Senior Associate in KPMG's Federal audit practice.From July 2003 - June 2005, I was an Associate in KPMG's Federal audit practice.I managed the day-to-day activities my engagement teams including other seniors, associates, and subcontractors. I participated on engagements on large and smaller Federal entities, commercial entities (i.e., REITs, biomedical, construction, quasi-government transportation, entertainment, etc.), and state and local governments.
