The Assistant School Director oversees management of the day to day operations of the school in accordance with Governing Board policies and administrative rules and regulations and assists the School Director in providing strategic and instructional leadership for the school. This position is responsible for the following key areas: Leadership, Administration Management, Operations Management, Student Management, Safety and Health, School Culture, Athletics Management, Human Resources Management, Professional Conduct, Communication, and Reporting and Board Relations.

• Provides strategic leadership for school improvement and development • Directly supervises school registrars, school counselors, teachers, teacher assistants, and educational assistants. • Carries out the mission and vision of the school• Acts as director when school principal is unavailable.• Implements annual Academic Action Plan/Continual School Improvement Plan. • Implements WASC and/or NAIS accreditation and adherence to accreditation requirements. Keep yearly progress reports for the school. • Demonstrates knowledge of researched-based instructional strategies that engage all students.• Provides support in analyzing student assessment.• Establishes and communicates regularly as a member of the Administration Team.• Develops and coordinates implementation of standards based curriculum.• Instructs and supports teachers with curriculum software products and classroom/curriculum related technologies. Develops procedures for teachers to implement curriculum.• Plans, organizes, and conducts teacher training conferences or workshops.• Observes and evaluates teachers’ instruction• Assesses and discusses implementation of education standards with school staff.• Recommends teaching techniques and the use of different or new technologies; models lessons when appropriate.• Mentors or coaches teachers to improve their skills.• Monitors intervention programs by observing and meeting with teachers.• Promotes Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).• Provides orientation to new teachers.• Reviews and responds to new class and program proposals.• Attends IEPS as Administrator.
