I am the founder & director of the 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, http://www.diepcfoundation.org/. I have eight years of nonprofit management experience. Patients across the world seeking information about all options for breast reconstruction as part of their breast cancer treatment utilize the Foundation for this purpose. I give patients the personal firsthand knowledge they are seeking by sharing, from beginning to end, my own positive journey through breast reconstruction. I have accomplished this through years of formal teaching and education, sharing evidence based medicine, and connecting with some of the most successful board certified plastic surgeons across the world via social media platforms including Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Pinterest, Instagram, and through the Podcasting Platform at https://diepcjourney.libsyn.com/. This collaborative effort builds trust for patients and brings shared education to other surgeons.I was awarded the Patients of Courage: Triumph Over Adversity Award at the annual scientific meeting of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons in Chicago in 2018.I am a Project LEAD® Institute graduate. I attend national medical conferences as a trained patient advocate in breast cancer and breast reconstruction research. I have been an invited guest speaker at the London Breast Meeting, BC3 Breast Cancer Coordinated Care Conference, The American Society of Plastic Surgeons Conference, the iBreastBook webinar series, and local breast cancer support groups about the importance of shared decision making and empowering patients to be their own best advocates.I am a consumer patient advocate serving on the DoD-CDMRP (Department of Defense Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program) for the breast cancer vaccine under the leadership at the Cleveland Clinic, “Primary Immunoprevention of Triple-Negative Breast Cancer".My Foundation strongly supports the United Nations, SDG3, Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being.
