Bamyan, Afghanistan

•Managed a $7.5M portfolio for community-based education programs in Afghanistan across multiple remote provinces overseeing 23 programming and Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) staff in five office locations.•Managed the Steps Towards Afghan Girls' Education Success (STAGES) in Bamyan and Daikundi districts where the vision was to ensure children in remote and marginalized communities, particularly Afghan girls, be educated, equipped and supported with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to help them interact effectively with the world and be contributing members to society.•Strengthened staff development in decision-making and strategic thinking through weekly meetings with five direct reports, targeted trainings in leadership and performance management with programming and operations staff, and country-wide learning events regarding program quality, accountability, and sustainability•Led new growth efforts through proposal development, including leading the project design for a $10M GAC-funded proposal in partnership with Development & Peace targeting women and marginalized girls•Supported the start-up and management of a $540,000 UNICEF-funded program to provide emergency education services for 5,000 internally displaced children in Western Afghanistan.

• Worked with the director of the local Jaibon orphanage and the National Council for Children and Adolescence (CONANI) to assist children and youth who left the orphanage system in attending school and seeking employment.• Started the first after-school theatre program in San Pedro de Macoris at a local high school for 30 at-risk youth to provide them with a creative outlet and build their confidence. • Taught Spanish language at Colegio Las Palmas (a private, bilingual school), Spanish classes to Americans five days a week for two-hour sessions, and English to Dominican students three days a week.

Jaibon & Montecristi, Dominican Republic

Acting principal for English Language Institute, responsible for 120 students, eight teachers, facilities, curriculum, and community engagement. Promoted to site director in charge of providing overall leadership to short and long-term volunteers involved in various programs including English education, Spanish literacy, community health, environmental education, and medical/dental clinics. Responsibilities also included administrative duties such as managing the site budget, program design and implementation, and as a liaison between the orphanage system and nonprofit.•Improved measurability of student skills and strengthened parent participation by 50% through the creation and implementation of consistent assessment methods to measure the four principal language skills: Speaking, listening, reading, and writing.•Established local youth representation in community volunteer activities such as running summer camps and leading groups by initiating leadership training courses for adolescents.•Enabled the local public school to meet government standards by developing and implementing an English curriculum for over 700 students.
