About Terri Lonier

I’ve helped businesses large and small make their visions a day-to-day reality, for more than 25 years. I’ve been especially effective working with:• Solopreneurs, to start profitable and grow profitable companies• VIsual thinkers, to turn their visions into concrete, irresistible businesses • Innovative leaders, to build innovation labs that move their ideas and industries forwardSolopreneursIn the early 1990s I wrote a series of 5 business books under the brand "Working Solo" that launched the solopreneur movement (and the term), transforming the global workforce. The original book "Working Solo" was featured as "the #1 choice for solo entrepreneurs" in an Inc. magazine cover story and in dozens of other media outlets worldwide. This work — to inspire and guide those who want to build a business as well as a life — continues with my SOLO newsletter on visual communication, and the debut of the Solo Business School.VIsual ThinkersMy background in the arts, and my experience in blending the visual and written worlds, led me in 2022 to launch Authority By Design, an online cohort-based course on visual frameworks. It teaches people how to turn their big ideas into visuals that inform and persuade. Authority By Design is based on mastering 5 simple shapes — a circle, square, triangle, path, and network — which means you don't need to worry about artistic skills to create visuals with impact. Alumni of the course have transformed their websites, presentations, sales pitches, and print materials into powerful visual communications.Innovative LeadersI have served as a strategic advisor to leaders of some of the most respected companies in the world, including: Apple, Bank of America, Bosch, Cisco, H-P, IBM, Intuit, Microsoft, Oracle, Toshiba, Visa USA, and others. My recent corporate advisory work focuses on helping companies develop Innovation Labs from concept through execution, including successful launch, operations, ecosystem development, partnerships, and programming. Recent projects: Oracle Industry Lab (3 global sites) and Bosch’s IoT Connectory in Chicago’s Merchandise Mart.As you can see, my work brings together the worlds of design, business, and technology. The thread that ties all this work together is that I help individuals unlock ideas that are trapped inside their heads, through my writing, coaching, speaking, and corporate advising. Based on years of experience, I ask powerful, focused questions that reveal the meaning and appropriate next steps to move a career, project, or business forward.
