The Pink Dumbbell Project provides public speaking and video essay content about Fitness Feminism, & Philosophy. Past audiences include; Girl Guides Nova Scotia Council, Nova Scotia Fitness Association, Mount St. Vincent University Gender Studies Dept, The Alexa McDonough Institute for Women, Gender and Social Justice, Fuller Terrace Lecture Series, TEDx Bras D'or, Rhythm on the River Dance Conference, Dartmouth Rotary Club, & Halifax Public Libraries.Topics include exercise safety & motivation, social barriers to access, pedagogy & agnotology, myth-busting, combating misinformation, lesson planning & educational content creation, critical thinking, and diversity, inclusion, & equity (DEI).

Instructing fitness and dance classes and teaching exercise in weight rooms.Teaching physical literacy, musicality, fitness terminology, good form & execution of exercises, safety, and healthy mind-body connections to the general population. Also includes breaking though the fitness myths clients have learned and teaching them critical thinking skills around exercise and health knowledge.Other educational duties include an in-depth understanding of adult educational needs around pedagogy, social inclusion, policy development, and client referrals to other professionals. In addition to teaching, this work includes administrative work, billing, client intake, documentation of client’s programs, providing 1st Aid, customer service, equipment maintenance, and design of handouts and billboard learning materials.

Did all daily operations of the NSFA, represented Nova Scotia on our national board, liaised with all levels of government & numerous fellow non-profits, & was the registrar for all courses.

Teaching weekly aerobic & yoga classes. Also did weight room orientations, workshops & demonstrations. Workshops of my own design include Foam Roller & Safe Stretching workshop, Self Care through Movement for Student Leaders, which were piloted at MSVU and later taught all over the Halifax area.
