Working with the Pacific Salmon Foundation to create a one-stop centre for information on the Strait of Georgia. This includes metadata and data creation and manipulation, and also literature references in Dublin Core metadata format. Fascinated with the possible data synergies.Experienced in ISO-19115 metadata, and geospatial data display via GeoNetwork, GeoServer and PostgreSQL/PostGIS.Working knowledge of Python software, although I am learning every day that particular knowledge is a work in progress! Somewhat more familiar with xquery, xslt and SQL. I like the native-xml database eXist a lot, and I am very impressed with the performance of PostgreSQL. I have written xslts to translate ISO metadata from the Marine Community Profile to North American Profile (NAP), ESRI metadata to NAP, and FGDC-CSDGM to NAP. I have also adapted a Python routine to package metadata and supporting files into MEF2 format.Experienced ISO-9000 internal auditor - *not* a formally-accredited auditor, although I have taken many courses. I have assisted public and volunteer organizations to create documentation following the ISO format, and strongly believe in the philosophy.Prior to my somewhat-retired status, I worked with the Canadian Hydrographic Service for forty years. During that time, I occupied a number of roles, chiefly in the technology support area. I started as a project engineer (Electrical Engineering), became head of Engineering Development, and soon after Chief of Engineering Services for CHS. During that latter position, I also served as Industrial Liaison Officer for the Institute of Ocean Sciences, responsible for encouraging contracting out of goods and services. A vibrant private research and development community resulted from this initiative.
