Disability Integration Coordinator
CurrentProvides Leadership, mentoring, guidance and coordination to a team which collaborates and provides guidance to program areas that interface with the community. Provide tools, counseling, and technical assistance to establish accessibility for all FEMA programs. Provides guidance in disability related civil rights laws, court cases and regulations; principles of disability access, integration, full inclusion and independent living philosophy vs. medical model. Conduct Facility site reviews to determine accessibility to survivors with disabilities and others with access or functional needs. Provide tools, counseling and technical assistance to logistics staff to ensure equal access to all disaster survivors who need to visit disaster recovery centers. Conducts disability case reviews and identify local and national resources to meet unmet and immediate needs of survivors with disabilities. Identify barriers in disability program delivery and provide solutions to ensure people with disabilities have equal access to programs and support. Identify local resources that will meet survivor needs. Identify local disability partners and facilitate inclusion in local long-term recovery groups. Counsel disability partners on the provision of recovery services for survivors to ensure Long-Term Recovery groups meet the needs of the whole community. Develop and deliver training to disability partners on FEMA programs and support to survivors with disabilities. Knowledge and experience in disability related civil rights, laws, and regulations. Experience in case review and case management for people with disabilities. Experience identifying local resources and matching people with disabilities to resources. Work collaboratively with various stakeholders to ensure that the access and functional needs of the survivors are addressed.
