Lead software developer for Softbase Systems, maintaining and developing Windows & Mac desktop software, console applications, web, and native mobile device products for the entire enterprise of Industrial Equipment Dealerships. This company bought Softbase Development, Inc, while bringing myself on as the lead developer/design engineer to continue the work on this product, as I had in the past. During this time, I developed additional iOS applications for real-time and offline mechanic dispatch, service entry, and a parts inventory counts application for large, multi-bin, multi-warehouse inventories.

Founded the company in May of 1995. Created, from scratch, a full enterprise product for the Industrial Equipment Dealership. Consisting of a main desktop application, along with web applications for mechanics, transport drivers, sales reps, and customers to directly interact, in real-time, with the live desktop/database environment. The software covers all aspects of:• Accounting (GL, AR, AP, Depreciation, etc.)• Parts Sales & Inventory Control• Large Asset Sales & Inventory Management• Service Sales & Management (Shop, Field, and PM service/scheduling)• Rental Management• Training & Certification Tracking• Light CRM capabilities• Customer Portal… and many other areas for detailed aspects of managing small, medium, and large multi-branch, multi-company OEM & independent dealerships. Originally, this product was written in Microsoft’s Visual Basic, and later rewritten in Xojo (a cross-platform, object-oriented language like VB – xojo.com). The product originally started with an MS Access database, as MS SQL Server wasn’t quite ready back then. Later, gladly converted the product to use both MS Access and MS SQL Server as it’s database, later eliminating MS Access as customers migrated to SQL. Started the company with two dealerships in the Los Angeles market, and successfully expanded the business to include over 130 dealerships throughout the US, Canada, and Mexico with nearly 3,000 individual desktop users and 1000+ remote mechanic/customer portal users. This product became the premier ERP/Enterprise systems for the Lift Truck and other Industrial Equipment Dealerships.

Started with the company to manage the Tandem mainframe computer system and to manage the data input operators throughout each department at each branch. Also, acted as the liaison for the outside enterprise software company that was used at that time. However, the job quickly progressed into writing custom software on the mainframe to supplement shortcomings in the third party software product as they discovered my programming skills. This later lead me to write an entirely new enterprise system on the Tandem mainframe for Clarklift. This product was written in COBOL (ANSII 85) and TAL (Tandem Application Language – like a C or C#), utilizing the native ISAM database environment of the Tandem OS.
