Equity Group Investments (EGI) 2007-2021The investment firm of Sam ZellSenior Director (Vice President) – Communications Served as part of executive team. Developed and executed strategic communications plans for EGI and its investment companies, often during pivotal events crises (e.g., LBOs, M&As, restructurings, C-level leadership transitions, and reputational risks). Provided counsel to portfolio company CEOs and senior leadership teams. Public and private companies spanned industries, including logistics, infrastructure, energy, manufacturing, hospitals, and real estate. Led development of EGI’s brand and managed Sam Zell’s media and speaking engagements. Equity Office (NYSE: EOP) was founded by Sam Zell in 1997 and became the largest REIT in the country. In 2007, EOP was sold for $39 billion in the largest LBO at the time. My role at the company was to strategically align external communications with business goals, and proactively define company identity and reputation through management of external communications to investors, customers, tenant brokers, local government officials, business leaders, and media. Scope included strategy development; project and team management; public disclosure; crisis communications and issues management; and long-term relationship building.

DGPR was a boutique PR firm that specialized in real estate and technology.I managed the real estate practice, approximately 50% (approximately $500,000) of the firm’s revenue and staff. Developed account strategy and managed clients such as American Express, McDonalds, Prudential Realty Group, Ernst & Young, Jones Lang LaSalle, and the Village of Glenview. Generated new business, and concurrently oversaw 14 client accounts. Recognized for tailoring strategic plans to meet clients’ specific business goals. Conducted media training for CEOs and senior executives. Secured and prepared company spokespersons for interviews. Established and nurtured reporter relationships.
