I was raised in Paragould, Arkansas, and have lived in North Little Rock since 1977. My degree is in wildlife management from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, and I also studied radio, television, photography, journalism, and other communications courses at Utah State University.Throughout my professional career, my positions have been related to our state's natural resources, marketing, and sales. I was the State Hunter Education Coordinator for the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission from the late 1970s to the early 1980s. The program was selected as one of the top 10 in the nation. I was the editor and publisher of a privately owned, statewide, hunting, fishing, and conservation magazine for more than seven years. For 14 years, I was the executive director of a nonprofit conservation organization, the Arkansas Wildlife Federation. In 2004, the AWF was selected as the top affiliate chapter in the nation by the National Wildlife Federation. I was the marketing director at FTN Associates, an engineering and environmental consulting firm, for more than 14 years, starting in 2007. I grew up in a car dealership family and have sold hundreds of cars at other dealerships and advised customers how to make smart buying decisions.In all of my professional positions, public speaking, marketing, working with local and statewide organizations, writing, and developing successful relationships with clients, prospects, the media, and others have been important aspects of my work. I have done well over a thousand public speeches and written several hundred articles that have been published statewide. I always inject a large dose of humor in my motivational and educational talks, and thoroughly enjoy making people laugh.I am a graduate of the Dale Carnegie Sales Advantage Course and received the Diamond Award for finishing at the top of the class of more than 20 other individuals. I have completed several other marketing, sales, and technical training courses.
