I'm the author of a different book about adults with ADHD, a book that is less about how to "sharpen the tool"​ and more about using a tool that is sharp enough to build a good life. LIVING WELL WITH ADHD (Specialty Press, Inc, 2016) presents a unique and constructive perspective on this so-called disorder and prescribes acceptance and mindful action as a path to embracing life fully. I've been in private practice since 1996. Prior to independent practice, I provided clinical services at Family and Children's Service and Vanderbilt Child and Adolescent Psychatric Hospital. Earlier in my career I worked with the Tennessee Department of Mental Health, the Los Angeles County Regional Center for Developmental Disabilities, and Oasis Center in Nashville. I received my master's degree in psychology from MTSU in 1972 and my master's in social work from the University of Tennessee in 1981. I became licensed for independent practice (LCSW) in 1989. Currently, I specialize in the treatment of ADHD in adults and adolescents. Other areas of clinical interest include anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, autism spectrum disorder in adults, marriage problems, divorce adjustment, and aging. I have studied and practiced meditation for over twenty years and bring a mindfulness based orientation to my clinical work.
