Working as Consultant / Contractor, I am the Smart Metering Programme Test Manager covering all the scheduled releases. The npower Smart Metering Programme is a major SAP implementation to support the introduction and subsequent mass role out of Smart Metering across its estate. My role is to lead all the testing activities required, which includes: - Creation of the testing strategy and testing approach for this major programme utilising a risk-based testing approach - Provide leadership for the programme on testing related activities - Working in conjunction with the System Integrator, set up and create a high performing testing team from multi organisational / disciplinary groups (Internal project and npower Business, RWE IT staff, 3rd party teams, contractors, etc.) to conduct all the testing activities - Utilise and implement any lessons learnt from the Foundation phase of the program. -

Application Support ManagerNational Grid Jun 2002 - Nov 2005Initially Application Support Manager for Transco but subsequently for all National Grid following the merger. Was responsible for an operational budget made up of direct manpower costs, ODC and third party support contracts. Managed a team of ~30 direct employees which was supplemented with ODC/3rd Party resources providing an additional 80% of the manpower requirements, which were split between on and offshore.• Following the merger of Transco and National Grid, I amalgamated all of the fragmented elements of Applications Support, into a single Applications Support team. • Renegotiated and rationalised the ODC work packs and support agreements, which achieved significant cost reductions. • Reviewed and refocused the scope of the ODC support contacts in order to drive out further significant costs, while improving/maintaining Business systems SLAs. • Following the IS Operations outsource, I also managed the systems interface with new suppler to ensure all hand-off’s were established and work effectively and efficiently.
