I've enjoyed a wide variety of Pharmacy experiences since completing my Master's Degree and Hospital Pharmacy Residency at the University of North Carolina and the UNC Hospitals in 1985. My current role as Director at Mercy Health Saint Mary's encompasses pharmacy services in the hospital, Home Infusion, six Retail Pharmacies, Specialty Pharmacy, an Anticoagulation Management Clinic operating in two locations, PFY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency, and a large Long Term Care Pharmacy. My management team includes four managers and six supervisors to direct the activities of 198 team members in the different services. We're a Trinity Health hospital and I enjoy the benefit of having the committee structures and support from the other regional health ministries for the many challenges we face together. My goals vary, but tend to align around a theme of helping to cast the vision and move all pharmacists to practice in ever more clinical ways while embracing appropriate technology and finding ways to meet productivity challenges now and into the future. We live in interesting times, but I choose to see this not as the "Chinese Curse", but as an always open door for innovation and growth.Specialties: I enjoy starting new services and have done so with Hospital Clinical Pharmacy Services, Home Infusion Pharmacies, Ambulatory Infusion Suites, Retail Pharmacies, Specialty Pharmacy, 340B programs and Anticoagulation Clinics. I have focused a lot of time and energy on incorporating lean principles into pharmacy strategy deployment and all pharmacy operations to develop a culture of problem solvers at every level.
