I was fortunate to work for some of the "great retailers". I learned from them. I like quality and I don't like mass market commodity style business. In other words I would always choose a "specialty" store. My business approach is very simple. Always do what's best for your customer. Study the work of the great advertisers and management experts. You don't need to go to college to be a good business person. Learn the fundamentals. Build trust with your customers. Keep growing your customer base if you want to grow and survive. Carefully select what you offer your customer. Gain their trust, never let them down. My objective, be the best, or at least try and be. Profit is a reward for a job well done. If you put making money as your first objective, you will make decisions that are not in you customers best interests. That's a big mistake.After more than four decades in the retail business and building a large customer base I decided to head down another path. There are more people listening to music than ever before. These music enthusiasts are spending billions of dollars annually.
