Bookminders provides automated accounting and information management services to small businesses and non-profit organizations. Most of our customers are in the $500K to $10M range in revenues. The general rule of thumb is that we do bookkeeping for organizations that would otherwise hire a part-time to full-time bookkeeper.Our typical client needs more than “plain vanilla” bookkeeping (although we’re happy to do that work too). We are experts at fund accounting, job costing and class tracking. We are accustomed to reconciling the general ledger to various in-house, industry-specific systems clients may also be running.Our bookkeeping is a combination of on-site and off-site services. Our bookminders visit each client weekly, where they pick up documents to be processed, review an executive summary with the owner/director, provide an up-to-date key account balance report, provide a stack of checks that are ready to be signed and address any issues/questions/problems. Our bookminders do the “heads down” processing from a home office.We hire only degreed accountants with at least five years experience, who receive high scores on a series of accounting, reasoning and computer skills tests. The beauty of our employment model is that we’re able to hire extremely qualified bookminders, mostly mothers with children who have left full-time employment and want to work part-time, with flexible hours, mostly at home. The end result is that our clients get much better bookkeepers than they would typically hire, backed up by a company and systems that provide quality control and protection against turnover, at a cost that averages about 30% cheaper than an in-house bookkeeper.We don’t compete with accounting firms—we don’t do any tax, attest, or consulting work.
