I have over 25 years of experience in the areas of developing and integrating software that solves real world needs facing utilities in the area of grid operations. I have been involved in several startup companies that have developed software that have ultimately become market-leading products for Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS), Outage Management (OMS) and Demand Response (DRMS). I have held senior leadership roles at GridBright, Utility Integration Solutions (UISOL), CES International, and SPL Worldgroup. I have experience with software development, product management, systems integration, project implementation, system health checks, vendor selection, grid modernization strategy and utility operations business process design. I have worked on distribution and transmission control systems including Outage Management Systems (OMS), Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS), Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), Distributed Energy Resource Management Systems (DERMS), Demand Response Management Systems (DRMS) and Energy Management Systems (EMS). I have recently been involved in grid modernization strategy projects for several utilities and have helped utilities apply best practices in grid operations, software architecture and systems integration. I have served in multiple advisory and industry serving committees and organizations including the DistribuTech advisory committee, the IEEE reliability working-group, the IEC CIM standard and the NRECA Multispeak standard.I have a degree in Electrical Engineering from Iowa State University and frequently presents at leading trade conferences, teach training courses and have authored over twenty-five papers in peer reviewed publications.

Worked on integrated product strategy for bringing together four software product lines which originated from separate companies brought together via mergers.Worked with Xcel Energy on their Strategic Advisory Board (SAB). The SAB is a group of industry executives who helped advise Xcel Energy on their IT strategy. Helped define and develop Xcel Energy’s 2004 Utility Innovations Project. The project included aspects of work and asset optimization, methods for improving distribution operational efficiency and outage detection via AMR systems. The project was awarded Pennwell’s 2005 T&D Automation Project of the Year. -
