  • Sungard Availability Services
Noc Systems Administrator/2Nd Line Support Analyst
Sungard Availability Services Apr 2006 - Sep 2008
    London, England, United Kingdom
As part of a team, split over 4 shifts, I am responsible for the monitoring of the hardware and the network architecture of our Sungard High Availability customers spread over five Sungard HA sites across Greater London; this is accomplished using remote access via SSH and Terminal Services and is monitored by EHealth. All customers are split into two groups, Managed and Colo (Co–Location), and the level of support is dependant of what has been agreed within the Service Level Agreement. The majority of our customer environments run on a Windows based Operating System, such as; Win2k/NT/2003, there are also environments which utilise the various flavours of UNIX (Sun Solaris 10 and HP UX). A number of our customers also use various versions of Linux (Redhat, Suse and Ubuntu), so having an understanding of these systems is a must for effective troubleshooting. A thorough understanding of TCP/IP is required in my position as this assists me when investigating issues where I have to log onto Cisco/Nokia Equipment and diagnose the problem before it gets escalated to the Networks/Open Systems team. Administration also plays a large part in my role, this includes; documenting all issues, Task/Change requests and backup management. All backups are controlled via Netbackup, so a good understanding of this application is vital to the role. I also log and action calls in our Remedy/Netcool Webtop call logging software.
