My current role is to meet with all new hires for general orientation. This day is spent learning policies & procedures of the organization dealing with safety, prevention of accidents, infection control, learning to use computer for online training, resident specific awareness (dementia, safety, infection control, etc.). I develop programs for specific departments to help in keeping continuing education a top priority for all staff.

Taught 320 team members rules and regulations pertaining to Long Term Care. Taught the requirements of The Department of Social Services and The Department of Health as they pertain to the licensing of Long Term Care. Provided orientation for all new hires, and kept attendance records of all team members of the hours spent in required trainings as set forth by the two agencies previously mentioned. Taught and recertified all professional team members and those wanting or required to have First Aid and CPR/AED certification. Updated policy and procedure manuals including The Infection Control Manual, Administrative Nursing, and Policies and Procedures for Nursing. Provided one-on-one training for those with discipline issues to insure correction of any deficits. Advocated resident rights, insured team members knew the true meaning of Person-First by monitoring, guiding, and obtaining feedback from the team players and mainly the residents and their family members.

B.S., RN Staff Development Educator. Had the honors to teach 300 plus team members the rules and regulations of The Department of Social Services and The Department of Health as it pertains to Long-Term Care. Recertified and/or certified professional and non-professional team members First Aid, CPR/AED. Kept training hours attendance on all team members to insure community was in compliance with the regulations set forth by the two previous listed agencies for licensure. Provided one-on-one education to individuals with discipline issues to insure he/she was learning the correct way to perform and/or provide services to the residents. Updated, reviewed, enforced, and wrote policies for the Infection Control Manual, Administrative Nursing Policies, and The Nursing Policy and Procedure Manual. Promoted the concept of Person-First to all team players by serving as a role model and teaching the true meaning of putting the resident first in all aspects of the community in which they reside.
